Blog #1: Social Anxiety and Making New Friends in College

Updated: Feb 20, 2020

A lot of students like myself come into college with not many people from high school whom I already know and don’t really put ourselves out there. With school and work there isn’t much time to go out and make friends. How does social anxiety and lack of exposure to new people and new experiences affect a students grades and overall college life?

This is a bit better than your first draft of the project. At least it has "college students" in it now. But other than the college-age students, I don't see the connection to the college theme. Has there ever been a college student who committed violent acts after playing violent video games? If you had a case where college students became violent due to playing violent games, then maybe.... But many scholarly articles put into question the idea that violent video games cause violence.

You might be able to make this topic work, but it really is not a "college" topic yet.

Hi Maheen,

Your topic for the final paper should be related to the course theme of "College." Can you redo this post and send me the link? Also, it would be great if you could pick just one topic at this point as the next blog posts are due soon.

Check the right-hand column of our blog (http://college201.blogspot.com/) for ideas, based on topics that students have done before for this class.

Best,

Prof. G
